Description:

Superwash Merino 4 ply is a super soft, easy-care, warm and versatile fingering weight yarn in a bright white colour that absorbs colour excellently. We deliberately use a fine 21-micron merino fibre in the yarn, so it has a soft handle and is not itchy or scratchy next to the skin.

Merino wool has a natural elasticity, helping garments maintain their fit and shape over time. Our Superwash Merino 4 ply is spun with four individual plies of fibre twisted together, giving knitted garments structure and strength, while remaining soft and cosy. The yarn is ideal for projects where both softness and durability are important, such as socks, mittens, or baby garments.

The merino has been specially treated to create an easy-care yarn that can be safely machine washed or dyed without risk of shrinking or felting. Acid dyes used on this 100% animal fibre will produce rich, long-lasting hues that are very resistant to fading.

This superwash merino comes from South America where mulesing is not practiced.

"In Summer 2024, I was very much in love with the roses in my garden. I wanted to catch some of the colors in my yarn. I chose the SW Merino 4 ply because it felt soft and smooth to the touch. The yarn was dyeing up perfectly. The colors are vibrant and the speckles are crisp. I dyed four different colors from a speckled vanilla-pink to a deep pink-burgundy. Three of these were later used in combination with the Suri Silk Haze yarn for the annual Westknits HiberKnitting to bring some summer colors into winter. The shawl turned out wonderful. The SW Merino is such a lovely yarn for shawls. The knitted textile is soft and has a lovely drape. The SW Merino is a beautiful yarn to be used solo. But the combination with the Suri Silk Haze is giving it some extra fluff and warms."
