Silky Baby DK is one of our most luxurious yarns. The yarn count is 4/9nm giving 225m (246 yds) per 100g of super soft baby alpaca is blended with mulberry silk. Baby Alpaca is one of the most luxurious fabrics in the world. It is incredibly warm, light weight and strong. It has hypoallergenic properties, it contains no lanolin, which makes the fibre safe to wear if you have skin allergies. Alpaca is said to be three times warmer than sheep’s wool, the fibres have excellent insulation properties whilst remaining light and breathable. The silk gives it a shiny smooth lustre which feels soft and luxurious to work with.

The yarn is 100% animal fibre and perfect for dyeing. To be successful we recommend using acid or natural dyes to create bright and vibrant colours, however, the colour of the yarn is a bright natural white so pastel and lighter shades also work well.
